Check out our new inspirations blog “Hope for the Journey”

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Don’t miss out on the best life. Jesus said, “I came that you might have life, and life more abundantly!” Put God first every morning, and I can tell you from experience, that your day will go better and you will see the favor of God blessing you in all that you do. This is so easy to do. Simply tell God every morning, “Thank you for a new day of life. Please guide me today and help me to honor you in all that I do”.

Referral Coupon $50 off your next NIHE course booked on our website: www.nationalhearted.com Unlike most other AHA Training Centers that we have come across NIHE encourages all qualified Instructors and Training Sites to expand from just BLS and add ACLS and PALS. We teach you how to market and tell you what has worked for us and also, what doesn’t work. Our compensation growth is based upon our Training Sites growing. If you don’t grow we don’t grow. We try to break even on our affiliation fees (basically they cover the administrative and quality assurance costs mandated by AHA for Training Sites and Instructors) We make our profit on the student fees, so the more students you train the more we as a Training Center make and the more you make. We think this is the MOST FAIR Training Center—Training Site business plan out there. It is truly Win Win for both the Training Center (NIHE) and you the Training Site. If you know of any good educators out there that are looking for a WIN Win Training Site Agreement please let them know about NIHE and have them contact us at nihe@earthlink.net Be sure to tell us you referred them and you will get a FREE coupon good for $50 off your next NIHE course booked on our website www.nationalhearted.com

Starting this month we are rolling out our national expansion plan. The first areas we will be opening in are Orlando, FL (completed in January 2017); Phoenix, AZ (completed Feb. 24, 2017); and Waco, TX.

We will be offering BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor Training and Training Site Orientation and Training in Waco, TX from March 15, 2017 to March 21, 2017.

If you know anyone who wants to start their own AHA training site please have them check out our Training Site page on our website: www.nationalhearted.com
Also, Dr. Stonebraker’s new book will be published on Amazon in both hardcopy and e-book format later this month. The title is: “How to Start a Safety Training Business” by our Program Director, Linnea Stonebraker RN, PhD. Buy this book on Amazon and give a review and get a coupon for $50 off ACLS, PALS, or NRP, booked on www.nationalhearted.com Just email us after you do your review at nihe@earthlink.net and we’ll send you the coupon codde.

CPR Saves a Life—This Stuff Really Works!

If you think that CPR is a waste of time and energy please read the article below.

A FATHER’S DAY GIFT AT THE POOL “Myles, my four year old, 3’6” son, had somehow left the hot tub area and gotten into the adult pool. We ran over and pulled him out of the water, only to see his blue face and grey, still body, the color of pool concrete. He was limp, lifeless, his lungs gurgling - the image of what appeared to be my dead son.
What happened next was fluid, efficient and perfectly orchestrated. One person contacted the front desk while another called 911. My friend, John Newland and I began very remedial CPR. Despite our best efforts, we failed to make any significant progress in reviving my son.
Another friend of mine realized two off-duty lifeguards, Liz and Alison Manley, were nearby. The sisters, 15 and 18, recently trained by the in CPR, took over on compressions and breathing.
Alison took over directly above Myles and Liz near his feet. Alison started compressions, Liz gave instructions. They turned him on his side, cleared the airway as he expelled water. They continued chest compressions and rescue breathing, working feverishly yet staying calm and coordinated. They were a perfect team.
As the scene unfolded, so many things went through my mind. It seemed that seconds, minutes and hours passed, all at once. I saw his life flash before my eyes, the vivid image of my beloved son, wearing his favorite Lightning McQueen jammies and then his t-ball uniform. All at once I was filled with both regret and hope. "What kind of a father lets this happen?", "Stay with me buddy!" "C’mon Myles", "I don't want to live without you buddy!" and finally "God help, somebody, do anything!" Then it happened. Myles slowly opened one of his eyes and began to cry. I picked him up and held him.
Myles was dismissed from the hospital the next morning and, despite everything that happened, was adamant about going to Worlds of Fun. This was the best Father’s Day gift I could have ever received, watching my wife, son and daughter reunited and healthy, playing together again! No days are taken for granted any longer.” Red Cross website published this story.

This month’s recipe:

Cold wet weather is all over the country this month again! Note I said this last month too. Everytime I turn on the news I am hearing about record rain or record snow or record cold. Comfort food is perfect in this kind of weather and Eggplant Chili is top notch comfort food. Traditional Chili is full of animal protein, fat, and salt, all things that contribute to all of the lifestyle diseases (heart disease, diabetes, stroke, osteoporosis, kidney failure, hypertension etc.) that are killing Americans at an alarming rate. This recipe has none of the bad stuff but it is still scrumptious! I get asked for this recipe over and over. Normally I’m not a fan of eggplant but I love it in this recipe. Try to plant base sour cream, too. This is another recipe that I get asked for a lot. I’ve had lots of wives tell me they just serve these two together with cornbread and their husbands rave. They tell me that they never tell them there is no meat or dairy in them!

Eggplant Chili

½ cup diced onion
½ green or red pepper (optional)
1-2 cloves fresh garlic, crushed, or ½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon cumin
1 ½ teaspoon California Chili
2 teaspoons onion powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 cups cooked black or small red beans
½ cups peeled, diced eggplant
14-ounce can diced tomatoes in juice
2 Tablespoons molasses

1.    Put onion, peppers, eggplant, and seasonings in a medium-sized kettle and add about ½ cup water. Simmer for about 8 minutes until onion is tender.
2.   Add remaining ingredients, and heat to serving temperature. Top with Simple Sour Cream.
Simple Sour Cream

1 12 ounce box MoriNu Silken Soft Tofu
½ cup raw cashew nuts
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
2 Tablespoons snipped fresh chives ( may use dried chives)

1.    Place all ingredients except chives in blender. Blend at least one minute until silky smooth. Use plunger to keep ingredients moving down toward blender blades.
2.   Place in container and stir in chives if desired. Chill. Thickens as it chills.
3.   Variation: Dill Dressing. Blend in ½ teaspoon each dill weed, Italian seasoning and garlic powder, 1 Tablespoon sugar, and more salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon). Add a little water to achieve desired consistency.
