Wake Up to the Abundant Life!

In the book of Joel in the Bible, God tells His people to wake up.  This is in the midst of a serious time of trouble and devastation for them.  God says, “Wake Up!”   He tells them to “Repent”.  Repent means to turn around or turn away from.  So often when things aren’t working out the way we want, we get down and start talking about all our troubles to anyone who will listen.  Instead if we would turn from looking at our troubles and focus on God and all of the good things He has promised us, we would find that our situation would begin to change.

Our Creator God has given us an owner’s manual, the Bible, that tells us how to live the abundant life that He has promised us.  If you are struggling through challenges today, first of all, make sure that you are spending time reading and studying the manual your Creator has given you on how to have an abundant life.  If there are course corrections you need to make, make them.  Turn from your destructive behaviors and begin to create new habit patterns that are healthy and productive.  Talk about how you are getting in line with what God has called you to do and how you are expecting that He will keep His word and bless your obedience.  When you do that you are getting in agreement God and nothing makes Him happier.

Don’t focus on and talk about your challenges, instead focus on where you want to be.  When someone asks you how things are going, don’t give them a list of your troubles.  Did you know that you can talk yourself right into defeat?  Instead, wake up to a new way of doing things.  Start talking about all the promises of abundance you will find in your owner’s manual, the Bible.  I have found that when troubles seem to be chasing me down, simply quoting out loud some of the many promises of God to me will not only make a dramatic change in my attitude but blessings seem to chase me down.  I don’t know about you but I would much rather have the favor of God and His blessings chasing me down than anything else.

Here are a few of my favorite promises.  Look them up as starters for your new wake up program, but don’t stop here.  There are thousands of promises in the Bible that will change your life if you simply put them to good use.  They are there especially for you.  If you want help finding more, you can find a good Bible promise book in a book store or on amazon for less than $10.  Some of my favorites are:  Jeremiah 29:11, John 15:7, 2 Corinthians 9:6-11, Roman 8:28, John 3:16, John 10:10, and Joshua 1: 8-9.

May God richly bless you with His favor and abundant  life.   Wake Up!  He is just waiting to hear from you today.
